Ngochang 2004 Edition (ACNBSM)
Overview
The Ngochang 2004 Edition is a New Testament in the Achang language, published by the United Bible Societies. The Achang (also known as Ngochang) are one of China's 56 officially recognized ethnic minorities, numbering approximately 43,000 people concentrated primarily in the Dehong Dai-Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan province. [1] The Achang are predominantly Theravada Buddhists, and their language belongs to the Burmish branch of the Tibeto-Burman language family. [1] This translation is part of the United Bible Societies' broader initiative, begun in the 1990s, to provide Scripture in the heart languages of ethnic minority groups in China, with Bible translation completed for several minority languages with UBS support.
