Akeu New Testament (AEUWBT)
Overview
The Akeu New Testament was published in 2015 by the Bible Society of Myanmar, with text copyrighted by Wycliffe Bible Translators. Akeu is a Loloish (Tibeto-Burman) language spoken by approximately 15,000 people across four countries, including Yunnan (China), Myanmar, Laos, and Thailand. [1] The translation project began after Akeu-speaking Christians recognized the need for Scripture in their own language; new believers had started a Sunday school but found it difficult to teach from Scriptures available only in other languages. [1] Two mother-tongue translators, Noeja and Jeqphao, worked with translation advisor Tuula Kosonen to complete the New Testament. [1] The Akeu New Testament was dedicated on December 5, 2015, in a village in northeastern Myanmar. [1]
