Angor New Testament (AGGPNG)

Overview

The Angor New Testament, titled Godɨndɨ Hoafɨ, was published in 2001 by the Bible Society of Papua New Guinea. It is the first Scripture publication in the Angor language. [1] The translation was the work of Robert Lee Litteral and Shirley Litteral, SIL linguists who began working with the Angor community in the early 1970s. [2] Robert Litteral completed a doctoral dissertation on Angor discourse features at the University of Pennsylvania in 1980, and together the Litterals produced literacy materials, primers, and translated portions of Scripture over several decades before the complete New Testament was published. [2] [3] Angor (also known as Anggor or Senagi) is a Senagi language spoken in approximately 11 villages of the Amanab Rural LLG in Sandaun Province, northern Papua New Guinea.
