Angaataha New Testament (AGMWBT)
Overview
The New Testament in the Angaataha language of Papua New Guinea, published in 2004 by Wycliffe Bible Translators under the vernacular title Autaahaatɨhomɨ Pɨwɨha Gaaha Wanɨha. [1] The translation was carried out by the PNG Bible Translation Association under the auspices of Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc., with copyright held by Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. as of 2004. [2] Angaataha (ISO 639-3: agm), also known as Angaatiya or Langimar, is spoken by approximately 2,500 people in the Menyanya District of Morobe Province and is classified within the Angan branch of the Trans-New Guinea language family. [3][6] Wikipedia describes it as the most divergent Angan language. [4] Scripture translation work in Angaataha dates to at least 1977, when the Summer Institute of Linguistics produced an Angaataha Genesis translation at its Ukarumpa base in Papua New Guinea. [5] The language uses subject-object-verb word order with the Latin script. [4] The hardcover print edition of the New Testament runs to 1,137 pages and was distributed by Masalai Press of Oakland, California; the digital edition in this repository is 934 pages due to different formatting.
