Anmatyerr Bible (AMXWBT)

Overview

The Anmatyerr Bible (2015) is a translation of Scripture into Anmatyerre, an Aboriginal language of the Northern Territory of Australia, produced by Wycliffe Bible Translators Australia under the affiliated organisation AuSIL. [1] The Anmatyerr people live in communities north of Alice Springs, including Ti Tree (Nturiya), Laramba, and Yuelamu (Mt Allan); Anmatyerre is a member of the Arandic language group of Central Australia. [2] [5] Seraphina Presley, an Anmatyerr woman from Ti Tree with a background in community teaching, served as the primary translator on the project, facilitated by David and Ming Fang Strickland of AuSIL. [3] The 2015 copyright reflects the completion of a foundational set of Scripture texts; in 2021 the Bible Society published an expanded Anmatyerr Mini-Bible containing three Gospels, Acts, and seven epistles, celebrated at four community events across the region. [4]
