The CMU New Testament (APFCMU)
Overview
The New Testament in Pahanan Agta, a Philippine Negrito language spoken in the Palanan area of Isabela province in northern Luzon. [1] Published in 2016 by Christian Missions for the Unreached (CMU), which is the organization reflected in the edition code "CMU." [2] The Pahanan Agta are one of several Agta Negrito groups inhabiting the Sierra Madre mountain range and coastal areas of Aurora and Isabela provinces. [1] Historically, these communities lived in coastal areas before being displaced to more mountainous terrain by Filipino homesteaders. [1] With approximately 1,700 speakers, this New Testament provides a vital scripture resource for a small and marginalized language community.
