Pamplona Atta New Testament (ATTANT)

Overview

The Pamplona Atta New Testament (1996) is a translation of the New Testament into Pamplona Atta (ISO 639-3: att), also known as Northern Cagayan Negrito, an Austronesian language spoken by an estimated 1,000 people in Pamplona, Cagayan Province, in the northern Philippines. [1] The Atta are among the Aeta (Agta) Negrito peoples of the Philippines. [2] The translation was published by Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. in 1996 with the Philippine Bible Society as print partner. [1] The vernacular title is Yù bilin ni Namarò nga meyannung kâ Apu Kesu Kiristu. This was the first translation of Scripture into the Pamplona Atta language. SIL linguists Ruth Lusted and Claudia Whittle compiled an Atta-English dictionary for the language, documenting linguistic work alongside the translation effort. [3]
