Awiyaana New Testament (AUYWBT)

Overview

The New Testament in the Awiyaana language of Papua New Guinea, published in 1984 under the vernacular title Aú-aai símai kááísamakain-aai by Wycliffe Bible Translators, with text published by Christian Communications Limited, Hong Kong. [1] Awiyaana (also known as Auyana) is a Kainantu language of the Trans-New Guinea family spoken in the Kainantu and Okapa districts of Eastern Highlands Province; the Joshua Project estimates approximately 23,000 speakers across five dialect groups including Amaira, Avia, Kosena, Ontora, and Ponampa. [2] Bible portions were first produced in 1980, and the New Testament was completed in 1984 and updated through 2013. [2]
