Azerbaijani Bible (AZEBSA)

Overview

The Azerbaijani Bible is a full Bible translation in Northern Azerbaijani, published in 2009 by the United Bible Societies / Bible Society of Azerbaijan. [1] The first modern Azerbaijani translation of the Gospel of Matthew was published in 1842 in London by the Basel Missionary Society (translators: Mirza Farrukh and Feliks Zareba), with the complete New Testament following in 1878 and the Old Testament in 1891. In 1982, the Institute for Bible Translation released a modern Azeri NT translated by Mirza Khazar. The 2009 UBS edition is the current standard, available in Cyrillic, Latin, and Persian scripts.
