Overview
La Sainte Bible En Bambara is a New Testament in Bambara (Bamanankan), published by the Bible Society of Mali (Alliance Biblique au Mali) in Bamako in 1996. [1] Bambara is the principal lingua franca of Mali, spoken by an estimated 4 million people as a first language and understood by roughly 80 percent of Mali's population as either a first or second language (approximately 15 million total speakers). [2] Earlier portions of Scripture in Bambara include a Gospel of Luke dating to 1923. [3] A subsequent full Bible in Bambara, titled Ala ka kuma Sebennen min be wele Bible Senuma, was published by the Bible Society of Mali in 2013 with a glossary and updated orthography. [4]
