Babanki New Testament (BBKWBT)

Overview

The Babanki New Testament (titled Ŋwàʼlə̀ Məkàyn Mə Mfimə̀) was completed in 2017 under the copyright of the Cameroon Association for Bible Translation and Literacy (CABTAL), marking the first complete New Testament in the Babanki (Kejom) language. [1] CABTAL, which is affiliated with the Wycliffe Global Alliance, has been engaged with the Babanki language community since 2004, preceded by SIL Cameroon's work in the community beginning in 1988. [2] Bible portions in Babanki had been completed by 2011. [3] A dedication ceremony for the New Testament was held at the Fon's Palace in Kejom Keku (Big Babanki), where church and community leaders received the translated scriptures. [4] CABTAL developed a formal Kejom orthography statement in Yaoundé that is used in literacy classes and informed the translation process. [2]
