Bunama New Testament (BDDPNG)

Overview

The Bunama New Testament, titled Loina Hauhauna (also rendered Loina Nuahuana), was published in 1991 by the Bible Society of Papua New Guinea, Port Moresby–Lae, with translation work carried out under the auspices of Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. [1] Bunama, also known by the alternative name Kelelegeia (ISO 639-3: bdd), is an Austronesian language spoken by approximately 4,000 people in the D'Entrecasteaux Islands of Milne Bay Province, Papua New Guinea. [2] SIL linguists David and Daphne Lithgow contributed to Bunama language documentation, including a Bunama-English dictionary; David Lithgow also co-authored Old Testament stories in the Bunama language with mother-tongue contributors Samson Tauwaliyesa and Antioki Iso.
