Audio Bible portions in the Bade language, an Afro-Asiatic Chadic language closely related to Hausa, spoken by approximately 250,000–360,000 people in northern Yobe and Jigawa States, Nigeria, centered around the town of Gashua. Produced by the Nigeria Bible Translation Trust (NBTT), which operates over 107 language projects across Nigeria. Bade has three main dialects: Western Bade (the largest), Southern Bade, and Gashua Bade. The language uses Latin script with special characters (Ə, Ɓ, Ɗ, Ŋ) and is taught in primary schools and used in radio. The Bade people are approximately 98% Muslim, classified as an unreached people group, and churches in the area typically worship in Hausa rather than Bade. The language is considered vulnerable as speakers shift toward Hausa. No complete New Testament or text Bible has been reported for Bade as of 2026.
