Tagabawa Bible (BGSWBT)
Overview
The Tagabawa are one of three subgroups of the Bagobo people — along with the Clata (Guiangan) and the Ubo — indigenous to Mindanao in the southern Philippines. [1] Their traditional homeland encompasses the slopes of Mount Apo and the area of present-day Davao City. [1] Tagabawa is a member of the Manobo subfamily of Philippine Malayo-Polynesian languages, spoken in Cotabato, Davao del Sur, and on the slopes of Mount Apo west of Davao City, with approximately 43,000 speakers. [2] The vernacular title "Kagi Ka Manama" (Word of God) reflects the community's name for this translation, which was completed in 2004 by Wycliffe Bible Translators and includes both a New Testament and shorter Old Testament portions. [3] The translation is distributed through YouVersion, ScriptureEarth's mobile app, and eBible.org. [3]
