Baikeno Mark (BKXWBT)

Overview

The Good News According to Mark in the Baikeno language of East Timor

Baikeno (also called Baikenu) is a variety of the Uab Meto (Dawan) Austronesian language cluster, spoken primarily in the Oecusse-Ambeno exclave of Timor-Leste, a Portuguese-influenced enclave surrounded by Indonesian West Timor. [1] The Baikeno variety shows greater influence from Portuguese than the related Uab Meto dialects of Indonesian West Timor. [2] This 2004 translation of the Gospel of Mark — "Na' Markus" — was produced by Unit Bahasa dan Budaya (Language and Culture Unit), a partner organization working with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Timor-Leste. [3] Print-on-demand editions have been made available through the Digital Bible Society in partnership with the Bible League of Canada and Open Doors International. [4]
