Koronadal Blaan New Testament (BPRWYI)
Overview
The Koronadal Blaan New Testament, titled I Falami Kasafnè, is a translation of the New Testament into the Koronadal dialect of Blaan, an Austronesian language of the Bilic subgroup spoken in the southwestern portion of Mindanao, Philippines. [1] The Blaan language comprises two principal dialects — Koronadal Blaan (also called Tagalagad) and Sarangani Blaan (also called Tumanao) — with communities distributed across South Cotabato, Sarangani, Davao del Sur, Sultan Kudarat, and neighboring provinces. [1] SIL International began linguistic work among the Koronadal Blaan in the 1950s; James and Gladys Dean produced early primers and literacy materials beginning in 1955, followed by Norman and Doris Abrams who documented Koronadal Blaan grammar in the 1960s. [2] [4] The New Testament was completed and published in 1995 by Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. [3]
