Today's Batak Dairi Bible (BTDLAI)

Overview

The Lapihen Simbadia ("Today's Pakpak Dairi Version") is a New Testament translation in the Batak Dairi language, published in 1998 by the Indonesian Bible Society (Lembaga Alkitab Indonesia). [1] The Batak Dairi, also known as Pakpak, are one of the sub-groups of the Batak peoples of North Sumatra, Indonesia. This was the first Scripture translation into the Pakpak Dairi language, providing the Scriptures in the mother tongue of a community of over one million speakers. [2]

Language and People

Batak Dairi (ISO 639-3: btd), also known as Pakpak or Kata Pakpak, is spoken by approximately 1,200,000 people in the highlands of North Sumatra, Indonesia. [2] The Pakpak Dairi people are part of the larger Batak ethnic group and inhabit the Dairi and Pakpak Bharat regencies.
