Batak Karo Today's Version (BTXLAI)

Overview

The Pustaka Si Badia ("Today's Karo Version") is a Bible translation in the Batak Karo language, published by the Indonesian Bible Society (Lembaga Alkitab Indonesia). [1] The Karo Batak are one of the sub-groups of the Batak peoples of North Sumatra and Aceh. Christian evangelism among the Karo people began in 1890 through the Netherlands Missionary Society, though large-scale conversion did not occur until after Indonesian independence in 1945. [2] The Karo Batak Protestant Church (Gereja Batak Karo Protestan, or GBKP), formally established in 1941 as a Reformed-Calvinist church, is the principal church of the Karo community, with approximately 400,000 members as of 2020.
