Buriat Bible (BUAIBT) (BUAIBT)
Overview
The Buriat Bible (BUAIBT) is a New Testament translation into the Buryat language, published by the Institute for Bible Translation (IBT), an organization founded in Stockholm, Sweden in 1973 with the mission of publishing Bibles for non-Slavic peoples in Russia and Central Asia. [1] [2] Buryat is a Mongolic language spoken primarily in the Republic of Buryatia in Russia's Far East, along the northern border of Mongolia. [3] The IBT's work on Buryat Scripture spanned more than three decades, culminating in a complete Bible presented on September 26, 2024 in Ulan-Ude, making it the tenth full Bible translation into a language spoken in Russia. [3] The New Testament portion represented in this edition was part of this long-running translation effort by IBT Russia and its sister organizations in Sweden and Finland. [2]
