The New Testament in Baelelea (BVCWBT)

Overview

The New Testament in the Baelelea language of the Solomon Islands, completed in 2014 by Wycliffe Bible Translators. Baelelea (also written Mbaelelea) is a Southeast Solomonic, Central-North Malaitan language spoken on the north coast of Malaita Island, and is closely related to the neighboring To'abaita, Baeggu, Lau, and Fataleka languages. [1] [2] The translation team was led by Aloysious Jack, who coordinated the collaborative effort among Baelelea community members. [5] The project was supported by SITAG (Solomon Islands Translation Advisory Group), and its completion was recognized at the Solomon Islands National Parliament, which hosted a launch event for the new Scripture. [3] An audio recording of the New Testament has since been produced by Faith Comes By Hearing and is available through their Bible.is platform. [4]
