New Testament portions in Cwi Bwamu (also written Bwamu-Dakwi, Bwamu Twi), a Northern Gur language spoken by approximately 49,000 people in west-central Burkina Faso. Produced by ANTBA (Association Nationale pour la Traduction de la Bible et l'Alphabétisation), the national Bible translation association of Burkina Faso, founded with SIL encouragement in 1989 and government-recognized in 1992. ANTBA became a Wycliffe Global Alliance affiliate in 1996 and currently works in approximately 18 Burkinabè languages. Cwi Bwamu is one of three distinct Bwamu-family speech communities with active scripture projects: Buamu (ISO box) completed its NT in 2012, the sister dialect Láá Láá Bwamu (ISO bwj) dedicated its NT on December 14, 2024 after 15 years of work, while the Cwi translation remains at the portions stage. A full NT was reportedly targeted for 2022 but no completion has been publicly announced. Available via mobile app alongside French and English. No confirmed complete NT or text Bible as of 2026.
