Kaqchikel Chimaltenango New Testament (CAKSOU)

Overview

The Kaqchikel Chimaltenango New Testament (Ri Dios ndich'a'a chaqe pa qach'ab'el wokami), published by Wycliffe Bible Translators in 2007, is a translation tailored to the dialect of Kaqchikel spoken in and around the Chimaltenango department of central Guatemala. Kaqchikel is a Mayan language of the Quichean-Mamean branch spoken by approximately 1,070,000 people across central Guatemala, with multiple regional dialects. [1] The 2007 Chimaltenango edition is one of several Kaqchikel New Testaments produced by Wycliffe to serve distinct speech communities across the Kaqchikel-speaking highland region. The history of Kaqchikel Bible translation dates to Cameron Townsend, founder of Wycliffe Bible Translators, who published the first Kaqchikel New Testament in 1931. [2]
