The New Testament in Kaqchikel Santo Domingo Xenacoj (CAKXEN)

Overview

The New Testament in the Santo Domingo Xenacoj dialect of Kaqchikel, published in 2015 by Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. Kaqchikel is the Mayan language whose first New Testament, produced by Cameron Townsend in 1931, directly prompted the founding of the Summer Institute of Linguistics and Wycliffe Bible Translators. [1][2] Because the language divides into several regionally distinct varieties — including Western Sololá, Central, Eastern, Southern, Southwestern, and the Santo Domingo Xenacoj dialect — separate translation efforts have been undertaken for individual communities. [3] Santo Domingo Xenacoj is a municipality in the Sacatepéquez department of Guatemala. [4]
