Chácobo New Testament (CAOWBT)
Overview
New Testament in Chácobo (BL:cao:Chácobo), titled Dios Chani, published in 2010 by Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. The Chácobo are a Panoan-speaking people of the Beni Department in northeastern Bolivia, living primarily near the Ivon and Benicito rivers, with a population of roughly 550–860 ethnic Chácobo. [1][2] Translation work was carried out by SIL missionaries Gilbert and Marian Prost, who arrived among the Chácobo in 1955 and spent approximately twenty-five years living within the community, producing extensive linguistic documentation alongside the New Testament. [2][3] The 2010 edition represents a revision of that earlier translation work and is the first complete New Testament available in the Chácobo language; it is also available as a digital mobile application.
