Cacua New Testament (CBVTBL)

Overview

The Cacua New Testament, titled "Dios ã jaap naawat tolih," was published in 2008 by Wycliffe Bible Translators. [1] Cacua (also known as Kakua or Kakwa) is a critically endangered language of the Nadahup (Maku) family spoken in Colombia's Vaupes Department. Bible portions were first translated into Cacua in 1975, and the complete New Testament was finished in 2008. [2] Because the majority of Cacua speakers are not literate, the entire translation was also recorded in audio format. [2] The Cacua community is centered in Wacara, approximately 30 kilometers from Mitu in the lower Vaupes region. [3]
