Cebuano Unlocked Literal Bible (CEBULB)
Overview
The Cebuano Unlocked Literal Bible (2019) is a full Bible translation into Cebuano, the second most spoken language in the Philippines with approximately 15.9 million speakers. [1] It was published by the Door43 World Missions Community under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 license, making it freely available for use, adaptation, and redistribution. [2] The Unlocked Literal Bible (ULB) is a formal (word-for-word) translation originally created by Wycliffe Associates in partnership with the unfoldingWord project as an open-source Bible intended for use by indigenous Bible translators worldwide. [3] The English ULB is based on an updated revision of the American Standard Version (ASV), designed to provide a form-centric understanding of the text by closely following the word order and structure of the original languages. [4] The Cebuano edition was produced by translators working through the Door43 collaborative platform, using the English ULB as a source text. The vernacular title is "Balaan nga Bibliya."
