Cerma New Testament (CMEWBT)

Overview

The Cerma New Testament (Diiloŋ-nelma Tobisĩfɛlɛnni) was published in 2011 by Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. and dedicated at a celebration in Burkina Faso; printed copies were shipped from South Korea in time for the dedication ceremony. [1] The SIL Cerma translation team included Emmanuel Soulama, Ruth Hürlimann, and Andrea Suter. [4] Cerma (also called Gouin or Ciramba) is a Gur language of the Niger-Congo family spoken primarily in the southwest of Burkina Faso, with a smaller population extending into northern Côte d'Ivoire. [2] The translation was coordinated through the National Bible Translation Association of Burkina Faso (ANTBA), which partners with SIL and Wycliffe on Bible translation across the country. [3]
