Wamey New Testament and Genesis (COUWBT)

Overview

The Wamey New Testament and Genesis (Vikerëh Vikasëk W̃ën gë Wapëgwala) was published in 2018 by Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. following over thirty years of translation work by Wycliffe and SIL Senegal. [2] The completed Scripture was celebrated with dual dedication ceremonies held in both Senegal and Guinea, reflecting the bicultural distribution of the Wamey-speaking community. [2] Wamey (also called Konyagi or Coniagui) is a tonal language spoken by approximately 50,000 people, with roughly 31,000 in Senegal and 8,800 in Guinea, where it serves as the mother tongue of the Konyagi people in the Fouta Djallon foothills of northern Guinea. [3] The volume includes both the New Testament and the book of Genesis. [1]
