Thai Phum Holy Bible (CTHEBL)

Overview

The Thai Phum Holy Bible is a complete Bible translation in the Thaiphum Chin language, published in 2020 by the Batupuei Christian Fellowship. [1] The Thaiphum number approximately 1,200 people living in four villages (Tangku, Renkheng, Pakheng, Amlai) in Matupi Township, Chin State, Myanmar. They speak a Tibeto-Burman language distinct from but somewhat intelligible with neighboring Asang and Rengca. [1] About 80% identify as Christian following revival movements in the 1960s-1990s. It is remarkable that a community of only approximately 1,200 speakers produced a complete Bible translation. The Thaiphum were historically conflated with the Matu people but are now recognized as a distinct group. [1]
