Gwahatike New Testament (DAHPNG)

Overview

The New Testament in the Gwahatike language (also known as Dahating or Gwatike) of Papua New Guinea, titled "Al Kuruŋyen Mere Igiŋ," published in 2000 by the Bible Society of Papua New Guinea and Wycliffe Bible Translators. [1] Gwahatike is a Finisterre-Huon language of the Warup branch, spoken by approximately 1,570 people in villages south of Saidor in Madang Province. [2] The Gwahatike people are subsistence farmers living in rural villages on the coastlands and mountain foothills. [2] This was the first translation of Scripture into the Gwahatike language. [1] Audio recordings of the translation were produced in 2017, and the text is available digitally through a mobile app published by Wycliffe Bible Translators. [3]
