Ejuele (also known as Doka or Kadara Doka, ISO 639-3: dbi) is a Benue-Congo language of the Plateau branch, spoken by approximately 23,000 people in three villages — Doka (Avong), Libere (Akong), and Adume — within Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Nigeria. SIL International has conducted sociolinguistic surveys of the language, with studies published in 2018 and later years confirming its distinctiveness from neighboring Adara. Mission for Scripture Translation and Language Development produced the audio recording of the Gospel of Luke in Ejuele, which is available through Faith Comes By Hearing. The Doka people have some Christian presence, classified as partially reached, but have lacked Scripture resources in their mother tongue. This Gospel of Luke audio recording represents a significant first step toward making the Word of God accessible to Ejuele-speaking communities. The Nigeria Bible Translation Trust (NBTT) has also been involved in oral Bible translation work in related Nigerian minority languages in this region, and further translation is needed for the Ejuele community to have a full New Testament.
