Overview
Musamu Wumbote is the complete New Testament (27 books) in the Doondo (Kibeembe) language of the Republic of Congo, published by Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. and available via YouVersion/Bible.com (ID 4451). Doondo, known by its speakers as Kibeembe, is a Bantu language of the Pool and Bouenza regions — the same inland river-and-plateau zone south and southeast of Brazzaville where the closely related Beembe (bmb) language is also spoken. The title Musamu Wumbote reflects Kongo-family vocabulary: musamu (holy/sacred) is cognate with similar liturgical terms across the wider Kongo zone.
Language and People
Doondo (ISO 639-3: dde; autonym: Kibeembe) is a Niger-Congo language: Niger-Congo → Atlantic-Congo → Volta-Congo → Benue-Congo → Bantoid → Southern Bantoid → Bantu → Zone H (Kongo group). Doondo belongs to the Kongo cluster (Guthrie Zone H), closely related to or a dialect of Beembe (bmb), which is spoken in the same Pool and Bouenza departments. Both Doondo/Kibeembe and Beembe proper are sometimes grouped under the broader "Beembe language complex."

Cultural Context
The Pool and Bouenza regions of the Republic of Congo lie in the interior plateau south of Brazzaville. Historically this area was within the sphere of the Kongo Kingdom, whose cultural and linguistic legacy permeates the entire Zone H language area. French Roman Catholic and Protestant missions established presences in the lower Congo zone in the 19th century, and Lingala subsequently spread as a trade language. Local Bantu languages like Doondo/Kibeembe exist alongside Lingala and French in everyday life.
