Casiguran Dumagat Agta New Testament (DGCWBT)

Overview

The Casiguran Dumagat Agta New Testament was translated by Thomas N. Headland and Janet D. Headland, SIL International linguists who lived among the Agta Negritos in the Sierra Madre rain forest of northeastern Luzon from 1962 to 1986 [1][2]. The Headlands were the first outsiders to learn the then-unwritten Agta language, developing a practical alphabet that was formally approved by the Philippine Department of Education in 1969 [2]. They also produced a grammatical description and a bilingual Agta-English dictionary, both published by the Australian National University in 1974 [2]. The completed New Testament, titled Bigu a Tipan: I mahusay a baheta para ta panahun tam, was published by the New York International Bible Society in 1979 [1][2]. The translation is distributed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivatives 4.0 license [3].
