Dogoso (also known as Dogose Noir, Black Dogose, Dorhosié-Noirs, or Bambadion-Dogoso, ISO 639-3: dgs) is a Gur language spoken by approximately 18,000 people in the 13 villages of the Dogose homeland in southwestern Burkina Faso, with communities extending into Côte d'Ivoire. The Dogose are primarily subsistence farmers, growing millet, sorghum, maize, and peanuts, and are best known regionally for the quality of their yams, which serve as an important cash crop. Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. produced the audio recording of Genesis in Dogoso,. This is the only Scripture portion currently available for the Dogoso community in audio form. The Dogoso people are classified as unreached by evangelical Christianity, with minimal Christian history and very few evangelical believers. The Global Recordings Network also provides audio materials in the language. With only an audio recording of Genesis, the Dogoso community has significant Scripture needs, and further translation work by Wycliffe and affiliated organizations in Burkina Faso is essential for reaching them with the broader biblical story.
