Djangu Gospel of Mark (DHGWBTD)

Overview

The Gospel of Mark in Dhuwa-Dhaŋu'mi is a Scripture portion translated by Djawut Gondarra, an experienced Yolngu translator who had previously contributed to the Djambarrpuyngu New Testament. [1] Dhuwa-Dhaŋu'mi is a language representing four Yolngu clans -- the Gälpu, Golumala, Ŋaymil, and Rirratjiŋu -- in Eastern Arnhem Land, Northern Territory, Australia. [1] The Gospel of Mark was published and dedicated in 2017, and support workers subsequently recorded Djawut reading the text for audio distribution. [1] It is the only Scripture currently available in Dhuwa-Dhaŋu'mi. [1] Bible portions in the broader Dhangu-Djangu language have existed since 1977. [2]
