The New Testament in Duruma (DUGBTL)
Overview
The New Testament in Duruma was produced by Bible Translation and Literacy (BTL) in partnership with Wycliffe Bible Translators. BTL began translation work in the Duruma community in 1987, and the Duruma New Testament was completed and launched on 12 August 2000. [1] John Macaulay served as translation consultant with Wycliffe Bible Translators on the Duruma project for 26 years, making it the longest single contribution of his 35-year career. [2] The Duruma are one of the nine Mijikenda peoples of the Kenyan coast, numbering approximately 397,000 according to the 2009 Kenya census, and are primarily found in Kwale County. [1] The complete Duruma Bible was later launched and dedicated on 27 November 2021. [1]
