The New Testament in Dupaninan Agta (DUOWBT)
Overview
The New Testament in Dupaninan Agta, titled Inaamakan a Baheta na Dios, was published in 2002 by Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. [1]. The Dupaninan Agta (also known as Dupaningan Agta or Eastern Cagayan Agta) are a semi-nomadic hunter-gatherer Negrito people living in the jungles of the Sierra Madre Mountains and along the eastern coast of northeastern Luzon, in Cagayan and Isabela provinces [2][3]. With a population of approximately 1,200 to 2,000 people, they are considered among the most remote and isolated of all Negrito groups in the Philippines [2]. Although the New Testament has been completed and printed, the community's extremely low literacy rate has limited the number of people who can read it for themselves [2].
