Ethoipic Dawro New Testament (DWRENT)

Overview

The Dawro New Testament, titled Ooratha Caaquwaa, was first published in 2011 as the first Scripture translation in the Dawro language. [1] Dawro is an Omotic language of the Afroasiatic family spoken in southwestern Ethiopia. The translation was produced through a collaboration between Wycliffe Bible Translators and The Word for the World International, with distribution supported by the Bible Society of Ethiopia. [2] The text uses Latin script and is available in both the DWRENT and DWRNT editions.

Dawro (ISO 639-3: dwr), also known as Dauro or Dawuro, is an Omotic language of the Afroasiatic family spoken by approximately 513,000 to 855,000 people in the Dawro Zone of the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region (SNNPR) of southwestern Ethiopia.
