Mark in Aheri Gondi (ESGWBT)
Overview
This publication contains the Gospel of Mark in Aheri Gondi, a South-Central Dravidian language spoken by approximately 202,000 people primarily in the Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra and the Adilabad district of Telangana in India [1][2]. The text is rendered in Devanagari script, the standard writing system used for Aheri Gondi [2]. Published by Wycliffe Bible Translators in 2020, this portion represents part of a broader scripture translation effort for the Aheri Gondi language, which received its own ISO 639-3 code (esg) in 2015 when the former "Southern Gondi" designation was split into Aheri Gondi and Adilabad Gondi [2]. Additional scripture portions in Aheri Gondi have been available since 1962, and a full New Testament was completed between 2021 and 2022 [1].
