South Fali 1975 Edition (FALTBL)

Overview

The South Fali 1975 Edition is a New Testament translation in the South Fali language of northern Cameroon. SIL International began linguistic work on the Fali language in the Pitoa area in the late 1960s, following a 1969 agreement between SIL and the Federal University of Cameroon. [1] Bible portions in South Fali appeared as early as 1974, with the New Testament published in 1975. [2] The South Fali people, numbering approximately 66,000, inhabit the Benoue division northeast of Garoua in Cameroon's North region, in and around the communities of Pitoa, Tsolaram, and Hossere Toro. [2] The translation was among the earliest SIL-facilitated New Testaments in Cameroon, produced during a period when SIL was actively working in up to 14 languages across the country. [1]
