Falam Chin 2009 Edition (FLMBIV)
Overview
The Falam Chin 2009 Edition is a New Testament translation in the Falam Chin language of Myanmar, titled Baibal Thianghlim - Thukam Thar. The translation project was informally begun in 2002, formally adopted by Bibles International (the Bible society of Baptist Mid-Missions) in February 2005 at the request of the Revival Baptist Churches of Myanmar, and completed in 2009. [1] Dr. Timothy Mang served as head translator. [1] The Falam Chin people, numbering approximately 108,000 speakers, are predominantly Christian (about 90% Baptist), and had previously used a 1991 Bible translation; church leaders requested a more literal version for exegetical preaching and Bible study. [1] Following the New Testament's completion, Old Testament translation began in 2010 and was finished in 2018, resulting in the full Chin Standard Bible. [1] All 20,000 printed copies were distributed by 2021. [1]
