Bengani (also spelled Bangani) is a Garhwali dialect variety spoken in the Bangan area of Uttarakhand, India, and shares the ISO 639-3 code gbm with Garhwali proper and related dialects such as Jaunpuri. The dialect has attracted academic interest partly due to earlier claims (subsequently contested) about unusual archaisms in its vocabulary. New Life Computer Institute (NLCI) of Bangalore, an NGO with a track record of text Bible translation in dozens of Indian minority languages, prepared the Bengani scriptural text, with audio production by Hosanna. The complete-Bible audio recording, released in 2025's Bible.is platform, gives Bengani-speaking communities access to the full sweep of Scripture in their heart-language dialect. Scripture Earth lists Bengani as a distinct resource from the broader Garhwali Bible, reflecting the translation community's recognition that dialect differences matter for scripture engagement.
