Western Bolivian Guaraní New Testament (GNWWBT)

Overview

The Western Bolivian Guarani New Testament, titled Nuevo Testamento Guaraní Pe in the vernacular, is a translation of the New Testament into Western Bolivian Guarani (also known as Simba Guarani), a Tupi-Guarani language spoken by approximately 7,000 people in the Chuquisaca Department of Bolivia, north of the Pilcomayo River [1][2]. The translation was produced and copyrighted in 2012 by Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. [3]. The Simba Guarani are one of two major subgroups of the Bolivian Guarani nation, the other being the Ava Guarani, and together they number approximately 18,000 people in the Bolivian Chaco region [1][4]. The translation is distributed in print-on-demand format through the Digital Bible Society in partnership with Wycliffe Bible Translators, the Bible League of Canada, and Open Doors International [3].
