Gor 2014 Edition (GQRWBT)

Overview

The Gor 2014 Edition (titled "Ta le Luwe Kunminde ke Sige" in the Gor language) is a New Testament translation for the Gor people of southwestern Chad [1][2]. The Gor (also known as Bodo) number approximately 201,000 people and inhabit the Logone Oriental and Mandoul regions near the Central African Republic border, with Bodo serving as their commercial and cultural center [2]. The Gor language belongs to the Sara language cluster within the Nilo-Saharan language family [2]. This first New Testament translation was completed in 2014 by Wycliffe Bible Translators, Inc. [1]. The Gor people are predominantly Christian (approximately 81%), with Evangelical Christians comprising an estimated 5-10% of the population [2]. A Tearfund-supported literacy project in the Gor language, active since 1999, has reached over 5,000 adults, contributing to the community's ability to engage with the translated Scriptures [2].
