Eastern Bolivian Guarani New Testament (GUIWBT)

Overview

The Eastern Bolivian Guarani New Testament, titled Nuevo Testamento Guaraní Pe, is a translation of the New Testament into the Eastern Bolivian Guaraní language (also known as Ava Guaraní or Chiriguano), completed by Wycliffe Bible Translators in 2012 [1]. Eastern Bolivian Guaraní is spoken by approximately 170,000 people across Bolivia, Argentina, and Paraguay, with the largest concentration of about 139,000 speakers in Bolivia's south-central Parapetí River area and in the city of Tarija [2][3]. Bible translation work in this language has a long history, with the earliest scripture portions dating to 1931 and a New Testament first published in 1974, followed by a complete Bible in 2000-2001 produced by the Bolivian Bible Society (Sociedad Bíblica Boliviana) [2][4]. The 2012 Wycliffe edition represented a new translation, distributed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivatives license [1].
