Hausa Door Version (HAUDOR)
Overview
The New Testament in the Hausa language (vernacular title: Litafi Mai-tsarki), produced by the Door43 World Missions Community and published in 2020. Door43 is an open-access platform managed by unfoldingWord where contributors collaborate to create, translate, and distribute unrestricted biblical content under open licenses. [1] This translation is released under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License. [2] Hausa has a long history of Bible translation; this Door Version represents a freely licensed open-access edition distinct from earlier copyrighted Hausa translations.
Language and People
Hausa (ISO 639-3: hau) is spoken by approximately 60,000,000 people as a first language, with many more second-language speakers, making it one of the most widely spoken languages in Africa. It is the dominant lingua franca across much of West Africa, particularly in Nigeria and Niger. [Glottolog: haus1257]
