Hindi Easy-to-Read Version (HINERV)

Overview

The Hindi Easy-to-Read Version (ERV) is a full Bible translation in Hindi published by the World Bible Translation Center (WBTC), now part of Bible League International. [1] The ERV translation philosophy aims to render the meaning of the original biblical languages in clear, simple, and natural modern Hindi, making it accessible to readers of all backgrounds, including those new to the Bible. [2] The Easy-to-Read Version series originated in 1978 as the English Version for the Deaf (EVD) and has since been adapted into over 30 languages worldwide. [1] The Hindi ERV was first published in 1995, with a revised edition released in 2006. [3] For the Old Testament, the translation is based on the Hebrew Masoretic text of the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia (1984 edition), and for the New Testament, on the United Bible Societies Greek New Testament (4th revised edition, 1993) and the Nestle-Aland Novum Testamentum Graece (27th edition, 1993).
