Huastec San Luis Potosi New Testament (HUSWBT)
Overview
The Huastec San Luis Potosi New Testament, titled An it jilchith cau c'al i Ajatic Jesucristo, is a translation of the New Testament into the Huastec (Teenek) language as spoken in the San Luis Potosi region of eastern Mexico [1][2]. The Teenek people, also known as Huastecos, are a Mayan-speaking indigenous group living in rural areas of San Luis Potosi and northern Veracruz [3]. This translation was published in 1971 by La Biblioteca Mexicana del Hogar (LBMH) in association with Wycliffe Bible Translators [1][2]. It represents the first Scripture translation in the San Luis Potosi dialect of Huastec. A separate, more recent Teenek New Testament translation was later undertaken by Bibles International beginning in 2006, led by Fernando and Christy Angeles, and dedicated on December 15, 2017, before an audience of over 500 people [4].
