New Testament of Simplified Indonesian Translation (INDTSI)

Overview

The Terjemahan Sederhana Indonesia (TSI), or Plain Indonesian Translation, is a meaning-based Bible translation into simplified Indonesian, produced by Yayasan Alkitab BahasaKita (Albata), a nonprofit organization founded by Phil and Gale Fields in partnership with Pioneer Bible Translators [1][2]. The TSI was created to address the difficulty many Indonesian readers face with the country's standard Bible translation, particularly those who speak Indonesian as a second language [1][3]. The translation was rendered directly from the original Greek and Hebrew source texts, without using other translations as an intermediary, and employs straightforward contemporary Indonesian vocabulary and natural sentence structure [3][4]. The New Testament was first published in March 2014, and the work has since gone through multiple editions, with a third edition copyrighted in 2021 by Albata and Pioneer Bible Translators International [4][5]. The TSI includes footnotes clarifying implicit information from the source texts for modern readers [3].
