Open Icelandic Living New Testament and Psalms (ISLBIB)
Overview
The Open Icelandic Living New Testament and Psalms (Opna Lifandi Ord Nyja testamentid og Salmarnir) is an Icelandic-language paraphrase of the New Testament and the Book of Psalms, published by Biblica, Inc. The original edition dates to 1979, with a revised edition in 1995. [1] This work belongs to the Living Bible family of translations, which originated with Kenneth Taylor's English-language paraphrase published in 1971. The Living Bible approach renders Scripture in a free, thought-for-thought paraphrase style intended to make the text accessible to a broad readership. [2] Biblica (formerly the International Bible Society) sponsored Living Bible editions in numerous languages worldwide. This Icelandic edition contains 28 books: the 27 books of the New Testament plus Psalms.
